Hi all! These are the images I'd been experimenting with, before choosing to do them as a two-page spread. I really couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out. It was a great challenge to stretch from a single photo to an even bigger, two-page layout, because it truly allowed me to stretch my own imagination and allow each one to breathe a bit more. It does feel like it's finally working in a good, solid kind of way.
There's something alchemical in seeing the journey unfold—when I started, the idea of a double-page spread seemed so overwhelming. But as I began to experiment with layout and composition, it started to make sense. The spread isn't just a question of showing the images side by side—it's about storytelling, a visual progression that guides the viewer through the space in a considered way.
I played around with the ratio of text to image, making sure that neither overpowered the other. The contrast between the before and after photos really makes the transformation stand out, and I'm happy with how the whole design runs. My favorite part is that it's like a snapshot of my process from start to finish.
While I wait to witness the completed work of the brief submission, I'm filled with excitement. It's always so wonderful to get to see an idea take form and be completed, and I'm looking forward to finding out how the project is accepted. It was worth it, and I believe this double-page spread accurately depicts my progression throughout the process.
